Prof. Dr. Mark Ebers studied business administration in his native city of Hamburg. After graduating with a degree in business administration, he moved to the University of Mannheim, where he first worked as a research assistant at the Chair of General Business Administration and Organization, Prof. Dr. Alfred Kieser, and after receiving his doctorate, as a university assistant at the Faculty of Business Administration. In 1989/90 he received a fellowship as John F. Kennedy Memorial Fellow at Harvard University Cambridge, Mass. which enabled him to do research there for one year. In 1993, Professor Ebers was awarded his habilitation at the University of Mannheim. In 1992 and 1993, he initially held the Chair of General Business Administration, in particular Organization at the University-GHS Paderborn cum spe. From 1994 to 2004, Professor Ebers held the Chair of Business Administration, specializing in Corporate Management and Organization at the University of Augsburg. During this time, he received calls to the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt/Oder, the University of Witten/Herdecke and the University of St. Gallen. He held visiting professorships at Universitá Luigi Bocconi, Milan (1996), Harvard University (1997), Harvard Business School (2002), Tilburg University (2004), Columbia University (2008), and Stern School of Business, New York University (2014; 2018). He has also been appointed as an AIM International Visiting Fellow at the University of Strathclyde (2005) and Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Studies, Hebrew University Jerusalem (2012). Since October 1, 2004, Professor Ebers has held the Chair of General Business Administration, Corporate Development and Organization at the University of Cologne.
